Pedari means "the father's house" in Persian. Designed for my family, this house is a contemporary reading of the courtyard home: a single storey of 250 m² on a 1,000 m² walled garden, where every room looks either onto a planted inner courtyard or out to the garden.

The house is one long, low volume framed by a deep concrete border that wraps the roof and walls like a picture frame. Behind it, full-height glass and vertical timber screens set the rhythm of the main facade, giving privacy without closing the house. A raised terrace with wide steps connects the living spaces to the garden, a rectangular pool and a shaded pergola with an outdoor lounge and fire pit.

At the heart of the plan, a glass-walled courtyard with a single tree brings daylight, air and seasons into the middle of the house. Inside, the palette is calm and warm: walnut columns and joinery, light stone floors and soft lime-plaster walls. The garden is planned as an extension of the rooms: raised planters, layered planting along the perimeter walls and low, warm lighting that lets the house glow in the evening.
